Black Benatar’s Black Magic Cabaret

About This Project

This intersectional salon promises in inclusive space to decenter whiteness. Hosted by larger than life drag queen “The Rev. Ladx Mx. Black Benatar“, is an irreverant racial romp that dazzles participants with hot black and queer performers from circus arts to comedy, such as acro-dancer Toni Cannon, singer/songwriter and musician Jade Way, comedian Dominique Gelin, and Musician performance artist Rose Nylons Black.

Between acts chief storyteller and MC, Black Benatar and her reparations intern Wyatt Ally delight audiences with drag numbers and magic tricks, making them squirm with a healthy dose a racial edging. Black Benatar’s Black Magic Cabaret is like children’s show for adults who want to be better people.

This project was collaboratively devised through collective genius of core ensemble. ensemble members Beatrice Thomas (performer) John Caldon (writer) and Steven Lemay (performer). The script was developed out of improvs and working editorial rehearsals with the performers and writer.
